The first immigrants practiced their traditions and met each other for example to play "mayong".
These meetings gave them the feeling to be at home and promoted the solidarity of Chinese people.
They could talk about experiences in America or China.
But the children of those people, who grew up in the new country were often disinterested in old  traditions.
They feel more american than Chinese.
They connect nothing with those old games like "mayong".
Nevertheless the kids mostly carry on the old culture of China and the traditions never died out.
